Conference special issues

Starting from the 2015 edition of the Metamaterials conference, a partnership between the journal EPJ AM and the Metamaterials Congress has been established, which envisage a Special Issue of the Congress published on EPJ AM every year.

This year, the title of Special Issue is: Metamaterials´18 - Microwave, mechanical, and acoustic metamaterials

Background: The multidisciplinary concept of metamaterials has introduced unique approaches for numerous applications in microwave, acoustics, and mechanical engineering, among other disciplines. Characteristic dimensions of metamaterials are smaller than the wavelength giving unique chances to engineer the wave propagation.  At the present, the metamaterials are an active research area not only for the new physics but also as a tool for new technological advancement.

Aim and Scope of the Themed Issue: The aim of this Special Issue of Metamaterials’18 Congress is to provide a collection of the most representative studies in the field of microwave, mechanical, and acoustic metamaterials. Hence, we invite researchers to submit an extended version of the works presented at the conference.

As for the previous editions (free access here: 2015, 2016, 2017 - in press), also the 2018 edition of the Special Issue will contain a selection of invited, regular and review articles submitted and accepted to Metamaterials 2018 conference. The Guest-Editors of this special issue are Ana Díaz Rubio (Aalto University) and Romain Fleury (EPFL).

The authors of abstracts whose topic falls in the above categories are invited to submit the extended contribution of their papers to EPJ AM.

EPJ AM is an open access platform for multidisciplinary researchers to exchange information on metamaterials with a focus on high impact engineering applications. It also aims to stimulate new fields of metamaterials research beyond traditional topics and foster innovation and transfer of knowledge with added value. The journal is covered in Emerging Sources Citation Index (Web of Science) and DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals).

Submissions will be open soon. Please note that, during 2018, the journal has no mandatory publication fees and adopts a "Pay what you want model".

Starting from the this year, a partnership between MDPI and the Metamaterials Congress has been established, which envisage a Special Issue of the Congress published on Photonics

The title of the Special Issue is: Metamaterials for advanced photonic and plasmonic applications - Selected Papers from Metamaterials’2018

The Special Issue will contain a selection of invited, regular and review articles submitted and accepted to Metamaterials 2018 conference. The Guest-Editors of this special issue are Andrea Alù (Advanced Science Research Center, City University of New York), Filiberto Bilotti (Roma Tre University), and Alessio Monti (Niccolò Cusano University).

The authors of abstracts whose topic falls in the categories of photonics, plasmonics and quantum effects are invited to submit the extended contribution of their papers to MDPI Photonics .

Photonics is an international scientific open access journal on the science and technology of optics and photonics, published quarterly online by MDPI. We aim at establishing Photonics as a leading venue for publishing high impact fundamental research but also applications of optics and photonics. The journal particularly welcomes both theoretical (simulation) and experimental research. There is no restriction on the length of the papers. The journal is Indexed in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (Web of Science), Inspec (IET) and Scopus.

Submissions are now open at the following link. Please note that article processing charge will be waived for the papers from Metamaterials'2018 conference.
